Newly formed American Realty Capital Trust Inc. intends an intial public offering of up to 150 million common shares that could raise as much as $1.5 billion, according to a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Jenkintown, Pa.-based firm said it plans to operate as a real estate investment trust. “We will invest primarily in freestanding, single-tenant retail properties net leased to investment grade and other creditworthy tenants,” the documents said.

Here’s a link to a TV news report about a $275 million renovation underway at Macerich Co.’s Cross County Center in Yonkers, New York. It’s interesting in that such projects don’t usually get such a nice treatment in the mainstream media.
Macerich has set up a special Web site with details and renderings of the renovation.
